The fact that the Kpelle people responded differently was not a reflection of their ability to reason, merely a reflection of their unfamiliarity with questions that are context-free. They were not used to having to take the question out of the context with which it is presented. Also, they were unfamiliar with logical questions that had only ONE correct answer. They usually had logical questions with multiple answers, but one that was more right than the others.
The Egyptograms were interesting; the fact that we became better the farther we went was attributable to our growing familiarity with the symbols. Also we benefited from our classmate's Apriori Knowledge; like knowing what Ramses was in hieroglyphics. This, along with the growing familiarity with certain symbols allowed us to progress faster in the more advanced stages of the hieroglyphics.
